Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) | Medical Acupuncture
Intramuscular Stimulation (Medical Acupuncture) is a powerful treatment tool for musculoskeletal problems that can be helpful in the rehabilitative process. Dr. Lehmann completed extensive training at the UCLA School of Medicine for physicians in medical acupuncture and IMS. This training provides another treatment option that may be used for those patients that are determined to be appropriate candidates.
The government agency, National Institute of Health, has studied the effectiveness of IMS for some time now. The results of these studies have consistently been positive in outlining the benefits of this treatment modality.
Conditions that may be treated with IMS may include: back and neck pain, chronic sinusitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis/golfer’s elbow, tension headaches, plantar fasciitis, shoulder and knee pain, and conditions resulting from overuse injuries and arthritis.
To determine the best treatment for your condition, a complete medical history and physical exam is needed with one of our physicians. After this, a decision is made for the best treatment plan.
